What’s Happening In Car Tuning

The German tuner Wheelsandmore’s new package for the limited run 2012 Audi R8 GT Spyder is called the Triade Bianco. Improvements and modifications were designed to reduce the weight as well as to boost power. Upgrades in the styling give the car a vigorous look. The new stainless exhaust system is lightweight (lighter by 40% than the standard equipment) with adjustable valves for better noise control and special carbon-frame air filters and ECU tuning, and horsepower reached an impressive 620 from 525 with 435 lb/ft of torque. To handle the surge in power, a new KW-Automotive hydraulic suspension kit with level control system (LCS) was installed, thus the driver can raise the car by 40 mm when passing through speed bump and potholes. With a press of a button, the driver can also control the rebound and compression rates. New handcrafted and custom-made 6Sporz 3-piece ultra-light forged wheels and Continental Sport Contact 5 P high performance car were also installed.

Chrome & Carbon’s latest tuning program is their Chevy Camaro wide body kit called the Guyver. Included in the price tag of 13,500 EURO ($18,000) of the Chevrolet Camaro wide body kit is a new front bumper featuring daytime running LED lights, new front splitters, new grilles, fenders, side skits, new exhaust tips to fit the new rear bumpers, diffuser, rear splitter, spoiler and taillight trim. A brand new set of rims of Chrome & Carbon forged wheels wrapped in high performance tires complete the new look. Incidentally, the name Guyver is from an old Japanese anime series, perhaps a tribute to the transformation in the car’s look. There is one caveat however as the model is available only in Dubai, meaning that it will be more expensive outside the emirate.

It is also a sort of test vehicles for BMW when it comes out in the market with its over-sized truck batteries.

Exterior Tuning to the Extreme

Normally the Chevrolet Caprice uses slimmer or medium-sized tires and wheels in its exterior, but for this owner, he decided to replicate the wheels used by amphibious tanks by purchasing fat 33-inch tired and small white-painted steel wheels, all of which are similar to the look of a truck wheel.
To fit the vehicle he had the axles replaced and the bottom of the body modified to fit the fat tires and wheels. Finally, an outdoor vent was placed near the right front doors, again simulating those of amphibious tanks.
Owners like him think that the only way to make their cars look great is to tweak them to the hilt.  On the road, basic colors like black, red, gray, white and blue dominate all kinds of cars. So in order to make it look unusual and better, the only way they can do is send to a body shop for a lot of alterations and improvement to make it more distinguishable. Perhaps add an unusual enhancement or two to make it strangely different. There is nothing wrong with the approach, but it is a costly and time-consuming process, which may take weeks to complete. For this owner, his patience was all worth it. As he drives his car/tank to the road, it does not mean he is going to war. Instead, he wants to enjoy a great ride.

Exterior Tuning to the Extreme

Normally when the term Exterior Tuning comes to mind, it refers to improving the appearance and performance of the vehicle. Some car owners only tweak what is necessary and best for them. However, others take it to the hilt, adding extravagant decorations and other accents to make it appear more recognizable, and sometimes strange. In this example, an owner has decided to do the unusual in transforming his vehicle into… a tank? Yes, a tank, and he decides to ‘enlist’ in the army with his custom-made ride.
This owner possesses the 1988 Chevrolet Caprice, which through six generations is still produced today. His model is part of the third generation. In his customized version, he elected to add enhancements that are purely military in mind.  The vehicle was painted in a military green livery, with camouflage spotting for good measure. He then added a white star on the front doors, a ‘PATRIOT’ stencil in the engine hood, and even placed an American flag in the rear.
One of the extreme features of his vehicle was addition of a turret in the hood. This turret is also made of aluminum and has a gun affixed in it. Fortunately, no large bullets were loaded in the gun. Moreover, a glass dome was added, and the driver’s seat was moved from the interior of the car to the turret, as if he is driving a real tank.
